Our Junior Competition Team competed in the Texas State Judo Championships in Conroe. All of the competitors have been training extremely hard and it paid off today. As you can see below, they demonstrated a great variety of techniques.
Joel Martin started things off with a Tani Otoshi for Ippon, taking a Silver Medal. Wyatt Sandoz then took the mat and just missed a sacrifice throw before loosing a hard fought match, earning a bronze medal. Anna Young won her first match with an Ippon Seoi Nage into a Kesa Gatame and her second match with an Osoto Gari into a Kesa Gatame, good enough for a Gold Medal. Trey Jeanes, who has come in and trained with us on several occasions hit on a barrage of Tani Otoshis winning several matches and a Silver Medal. Caleb Martin stuck three Morote Seoi Nages before finishing his match with an Osoto Gaeshi, bringing home the gold medal. Scotlan Moore his for match with an Ouchi Gari for Yuko followed by a Tai Otoshi into a hold down. On his way to the gold medal he won his second match with and amazing Morote Seoi Nage, arguably the best throw of the tournament. There would have been no argument had Zane Dugas not followed with an equally amazing Yoko Garuma counter.
Enjoy the highlights and continue to work hard guys.
